Organi Product Review + Giveaway

I love shopping. I love shopping so much that sometimes I think it's somewhat of a problem. But when I buy something that I truly love, I feel like the money is well worth spent. I came across Organi when I was shopping in Garden City, Booragoon. Organi's products are Australian made from 100% natural essential oils and uses the purest ingredients.

I ended up leaving the store with several products but the two that left an imprint on me were the Tropicana Salt Scrub and Cranberry Mask. I tested the salt scrub in the store and the sensation it left my hands with was absolutely divine! After washing my hands with this exotically scented scrub, I was left with silky smooth skin that I absolutely could not stop stroking! I was so excited that as soon as I got home, I ripped open the packaging and jumped in the shower, ready to scrub my skin to smoothdom! Results were even better than anticipated. I only used a teaspoon's worth of salt and I was smooth all over and smelt like fresh tropical fruits! One of the main highlights of this scrub for me is its divine fragrance! If Organi had other products with the same fragrance, I would buy them all up!

This salt scrub, which uses sea salt, almond oil and olive oil, is laden with minerals that nourish and hydrate your skin without being too harsh. The almond oil helps to moisturise the skin and the olive oil helps to retain the skin's moisture. It is such an amazing scrub that I cannot, to this day, stop raving about it to all my friends. If you're in need of a new body scrub, I definitely recommend having a look at Organi's Tropicana Salt Scrub and if you can, get into a store to smell that wonderful scrub!

According to the salesman at Organi, cranberries have an abundance of antioxidants and we all know that they are great for your health. In all honestly, I can't remember everything that he said but you can check it out here at Organi's website for all the great benefits of their mask for you. To sum it up, it's great for skin prone to acne because of its disinfecting properties.

To try out the effects of the mask, my best friend came over to my place for a sleepover and we slathered this thick grey mask all over our faces. We could smell the sweet scent of the mask which was very fruity and sweet but at times we would get wafts of an underlying chemical smell which wasn't all that enticing. As the mask dried, we could feel a light tingling sensation which was actually quite comforting because I imagined the mask was doing its thing. After about 15 minutes, we washed it off and both agreed that our faces felt soft and plump. We also independently came to the conclusion that our faces looked a lot brighter! The only down side of this mask was that it left our faces feeling a little bit dry later on in the night. But all in all, I feel like this mask really helped brighten the face and I'm looking forward to trying it again.

Because I like these Organi products so much, I want to include this Organi Butterfly Kiss Green Apple Lip Balm in a mini giveaway I'm having while I'm in Japan!

This lip balm is great because it's 100% petroleum free and is made of all natural products to keep your lips smooth and soft, not to mention its delicious green apple scent! So keep an eye out for my mini giveaway and follow my instagram for all those pictures of Japan!

Sun protection is vital!

I've always been quite lazy when it comes to applying sunscreen which isn't particularly smart seeing as I live in Australia where the sun is famous for being fierce and can do serious harm. Sun damage to the skin can result in fine lines and wrinkles, discolouration, textural changes and sun spots. That sounds a lot like premature aging to me and really, who wants to age prematurely? On top of that, in the worst case scenario, sun damage can lead to skin cancer so I cannot stress the importance of protecting your skin, especially your face, from the sun!

While a lot of base make up these days, such as primer, liquid foundation and powdered foundation contain SPF, you may not walk out of your house with make up on a daily basis. The fail safe way to protect your face if you're too lazy to apply that layer of sunscreen is to use a moisturiser that contains SPF. This gives your skin added protection along with something that you do every morning.

I regret not actively using sunscreen at a young age but it's better late than never! Recently, I went on the hunt for a new day moisturiser that contains SPF. I settled with CLINIQUE's Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense Moisturizer for dry combination skin. I think that long name says it all. It's anti-aging, moisturising and helps to neutralise against damaging UV rays! Not only does it defend against the visible signs of premature aging, it arms the skin to fight the visible effects of sun and pollution which research confirms damages your skin's appearance. This moisturiser claims to result in your skin looking better for longer.

Personally, I really like this product! It glides on smoothly and is easy to spread over the skin, unlike a lot of sunscreen, and after application, my skin feels soft and plump!

However; if you know you'll be out in the sun all day, I highly recommend adding some extra protection onto your face. I use the CLINIQUE City Block Sheer SPF 25 before applying my moisturiser. This is a no chemical sunscreen that is sheer with a high-level broad-spectrum UVA/UVB daily sun protection. Its light-weight formula helps wick away perspiration and absorb excess oil so make up looks fresher, longer. It really evens out my skin tone and is spreads easily over the skin. I also love how it acts as a make up primer or a tinted moisturiser!

Living in Australia, we often rejoice in the beautiful sunny days that we have and forget about the dangers of the sun. It's so important to protect yourself from sun damage and I think CLINIQUE has made it easy for us with their Superdefense moisturiser and City Block sunscreen. It's definitely been a great buy for me and remember, all of CLINIQUE's products are allergy tested and 100% fragrance free so if you're looking for a new moisturiser, maybe you can consider this with its added protection.

Manchester Press, Melbourne

I'm a huge fan of having brunches and finding great coffee shops! It's usually the highlight of my weekend mornings in Perth. So naturally, when I spent the weekend in Melbourne, I went on the hunt for a nice cafe to have my usual weekend brunch!

My trusty Urbanspoon application led me to a little place called Manchester Press. This place had great food, good coffee and great atmosphere. What more do you need? Oh, also great service! Ticks every box for me!

Do you see the M -> P? I actually thought that was the entrance to a car park! But as you walk closer you realise that it's actually the entrance to Manchester Press! A favourite past-time of mine every time I go to Melbourne is to discover a "hidden" bar or restaurant in the alleys of Melbourne. It's definitely something I don't find in Perth and gives me a little thrill. It was surprisingly spacious inside and I loved the atmosphere of it!

Manchester Press Cafe
8 Rankins Lane
Melbourne, VIC
Manchester Press is tucked away in a little alleyway called Rankins Lane in the center of Melbourne's CBD and even with the latest technology of smart phones and GPS directions, I found that it was difficult to find this coffee shop. It's actually not too hard to find as the entrance to the alleyway has some awesome graffiti on the wall that's hard to miss!

So if you're ever in Melbourne, you should definitely check this place out. It really gives out a nice vibe and in my opinion, is very "Melbourne".

Indulgence at its Best

Before I arrived in Melbourne, Ashlee emailed me and asked whether I was keen for a spa day and some High Tea. Needless to say, I did not turn down the offer. I am always keen for some pampering and anything to do with food.

We settled on The Waiting Room in Crown Melbourne for high tea. It was absolute indulgence. There was so much dessert, I had to limit myself to one bite of each variety and leave the rest uneaten. The coffee was good, the service was good and the food was absolutely delightful! The scones were a tad bit harder and more crumbly than I'm used to but the lemon curd that accompanied it was amazing! A definite highlight of this high tea! So good that I'm going to try my hand at reinventing it in my own kitchen. I just have to say it was an amazing lunch.

And for the spa day, we chose Sakura Lounge and Spa in inner city Melbourne. Melbourne's utilisation of their alleyways is such a quaint and foreign thing to me. I always get a little thrill as I step into an alleyway with a purpose. In my head, I know of a secret place that no-one else does. In fact, I was going for a two and a half hour pampering session! Ashlee and I got the friends and lovers package for $270 and it was worth every cent! So amazing that I fell asleep a few times amidst the massaging and tinkling music. Utter relaxation in the middle of a busy city.

Spending two and a half hours in Sakura Lounge and Spa was the highlight of my trip so I highly recommend that if you're ever in Melbourne, this is definitely a must do!

Weekend in Melbourne

Over the long weekend, I decided to pay my friend a visit in Melbourne, Victoria. It seems a growing trend for young people to move to Melbourne. Ashlee had left Perth several months ago, leaving me sorely bereft of her companionship so I decided it was high time I made the trek to the other side of the country and brave the unpredictable weather to see her.

Oh, Melbourne. You greet me with rain and cold winds from the moment I touch foot upon your ground. I suppose Melbourne's weather is predictable in the sense that it's unpredictable. You know you just have to be prepared for everything.

Golden Goddess

When summer rolls around in Perth, my friends and I love to get out in the sun and get a good tan. In the mornings when it's not too hot, we throw on our bikinis and drive down to the beach where we frolic in the water and afterwards, lay ourselves down in the sun for a nap.

But in the fierce Australian sun, chances of skin cancer and melanoma

sunscreen and how important it is to use sun protection esp in the fierce aussie sun
and maybe google n find out like what kind of sun damages blah blah
and then say “I’ve been using Clinique this and this and for extra protection if u will be out in the sun all day then use this before the moisturizer”

A Complete Home

There’s no better feeling for me than coming home after a long day at work to a room of freshly cut fruits or fresh flowers. It’s like an invitation to drop everything and fling myself on a couch and breathe out in relief. But who is there to cut fruits for me or fill my vases with fresh flowers when I’m at work? My loyal, loving dogs? Unfortunately, no. They’re only dogs and aren't physically capable of such a feat even if they wanted to.

It’s actually Circa Home who fill my house with subtle, fresh scents that I wake up to in the morning and come home to in the evening. And every now and then, when I have the doors and windows open and a breeze flows past, it brings with it a hint of fragrance. Oh, Circa Home, you have made my house complete.

One of my favourite pastimes is going shopping. Shopping for clothes, shopping for shoes and shopping for things to improve my home. I came across the fantastic range of fragrance diffusers and soy candles in Bed, Bath N Table - Garden City, Booragoon. I spent a good deal of time sniffing the different diffusers and candles and found that my heart had set itself on 1993 Cara Cara Orange fragrance diffuser. It was the scent  I came back to every time. So I bought it and as soon as I got home, I broke it open and rejoiced in the beautiful aroma that poured out into my living room. How do I describe this beautiful fragrance? To me, it's like when you cut up a mango and put it onto a plate alongside some cut oranges. Summery, fresh and light.
